Pipe - Metal Works
Pipe and metal works and the quality of the workmanship are obviously crucial to the smooth running of the vessel. Engineers understand how crucial pipe and metal works are onboard, and are trained to do much of the work. This however is not often possible because the necessary machinery is not available and the open flame needed would be a fire hazard. This work should be done off board at pipe and metal workshops in port.
