Plastics
Even to the layman some of the advantages of plastics in boat building are very clear. For one, plastic floats! It is light and resistant to salt water corrosion, UV radiation, and oil. Thermoplastics are used for hulls and anti-slip decks, for all the above reasons, in smaller boats and as a result are both economically friendly and fuel efficient.
