With every respect to the traditional Sailmaker, who will always be in demand, the progress in Sail Design has taken a huge step forward due to 3D technology and powerful computer modelling. Now Sailmakers/Sail Designers have the tools to assist them. A Sailmaker these days will feed alternative shapes, stretch capacity and camber into his computer models and test against wind and weather variants, to design the best possible sail and meet all requirements.
